Our staff member Sato was on a business trip to Italy for about one week.
運良く、隣に誰もいない
席で快適なフライト
だったそうです。
He was lucky to have an empty seat next to him, making it a comfortable flight.

He visited Pitti Uomo, the international menswear trade fair held twice a year in Florence, as well as the headquarters, showrooms, and workshops of our partners, including Stefano Ricci, to learn firsthand how the pieces we carry are made.
日本でも報じられていますが
ヨーロッパは連日の酷暑。
フィレンツェも35度前後の
暑さだったそうです。
わたくしも経験がありますが
湿度が高い日本と異なり、
ヨーロッパは空気が乾燥
しているので直火焼きの
ような暑さです。
As reported in Japan, Europe has been facing intense heat. Florence was around 35°C, and unlike Japan’s humid summer, the dry European air feels almost like being grilled.
そんな中ピッティでは、
まだ見ぬよき作り手を
探して会場内をくまなく
歩いたとのこと。
Even in that heat, he walked through Pitti thoroughly in search of yet-undiscovered makers.

シルヴィオ フィオレッロ
創業者のシルヴィオ氏。
5か月ぶりの再会と
なりました。
Here is one photo from Pitti. The gentleman on the right is Mr. Silvio, founder of Silvio Fiorello, the Sicilian handmade tie specialist. It was their first reunion in five months.
昨年夏、
シチリアの小さな村
カステルフェラートに
ある本社や工房へ足を
運んだ際に
「はるばる日本から若者が
やって来たぞ！！」と
大歓迎してくださった
シルヴィオ フィオレッロ社の
皆様。

とりわけ創業者の
シルヴィオ氏は佐藤を
「日本にいる孫」のような
まなざしで可愛がって
くださっています。
In particular, Mr. Silvio, the founder, treats Sato with great warmth, almost like a grandson in Japan.
自分たちが住む街の
産業が廃れていくことを
憂い
「大好きなネクタイで
町おこしをしよう！」
と決意して以来、長年
手作りのネクタイ一筋に
生きてきたシルヴィオ氏に
とって、
遠い異国の地から同社の
作品に同じだけの熱意を
注ぐ佐藤、そしてHIKOは
家族のような存在なのだと
思います。
Concerned that his town’s industry was fading, Mr. Silvio devoted his life to handmade ties, determined to revitalize the town through the neckties he loves. For him, Sato and all of us at HIKO, who share that same passion from faraway Japan, must feel almost like family.
今回もディナーにお招き
いただいたとのこと。
He was once again invited to dinner during this visit.
いつも様々なお気遣いを
いただいているので、
わたくし中村からもお礼の
手紙とプレゼントを
佐藤から渡してもらいました。
As they have always shown us such kindness, I asked Sato to give them a thank-you letter and a small gift from me.

They were very pleased with the gift. The lady in the video is Nancy, Mr. Silvio’s daughter.
以前上記ブログでも
綴りましたが、
同じテーブルを囲み、
ワインや食事を楽しみ、
大いに笑う。
こうした時間の積み重ねが
「信頼できるパートナー」
として互いを大切に思う
土台となっていきます。
佐藤とシルヴィオ氏、
50歳以上も年齢差が
ありますが、写真や
動画からも、そこに
確かな絆が紡がれて
いるのを感じます。
As I wrote in the blog above, sharing a table, enjoying wine and food, and laughing together are the moments that build the foundation of a trusted partnership.
Although Sato and Mr. Silvio are more than 50 years apart in age, the photos and videos clearly show the genuine bond that has grown between them.
