定例ヨーロッパ出張 夏の陣 Summer Business Trip to Italy: Milan Edition

わたくし中村は現在イタリアの
ミラノに来ております。
年に二回、この時期はミラノ
ではファッションウィークが、
フィレンツェでは国際見本市
ピッティウォモが開かれており
各都市はメンズファッションの
関係者が大勢集まります。

　

　

I, Nakamura, am currently in Milan, Italy.
At this time of year, Milan Fashion Week takes place twice a year,
and Florence hosts the international trade fair Pitti Uomo,
and many people involved in men’s fashion gather in each city.

　

今回も旅の始まりはJALカレー。
長年の儀式のようなものです。

　

大きな揺れも特になく、
快適な空の旅でした。

　　

This trip started with JAL curry again.
It’s something of a ritual for me over the years.

There were no major turbulences, and it was a comfortable flight.

　

　

　

まずはフランスに飛び
パリの空港そばのホテルで
１泊。

　

First, I flew to France and spent one night at a hotel near the Paris airport.

　

　

　

翌朝３時起きで、ミラノ
行きの飛行機に乗りました。

　

I got up at 3am the next morning and boarded a plane to Milan.　

　

　

オリンピックを間近に
控えたパリを空から
眺めました。

　

　

I saw Paris from the sky with the Olympics just around the corner.

　

　

ぼんやりと外の景色を眺めて
いると「ナカムラサマ！
ゴトウジョウアリガトウ
ゴザイマス！」と日本語で
声をかけられました。

　

なんと、日本語を勉強している
というクルーの方が。

　

日本の文化が大好きで、来日
したこともあるのだとか。

わずかな時間でしたが
話が弾みました。

　

　

As I was absentmindedly gazing at the scenery outside, someone called out to me in Japanese, “Ms. Nakamura, thank you for boarding!”
To my surprise, it was a crew member who was studying Japanese. He loves Japanese culture and has even visited Japan before. We had a lively conversation, even though we only had a short time.

　

　

　

ホテルに着き、そのまま
午後一番で早速フランスの
最高級メンズブランド
ジリーのショールームへ。

　

After arriving at the hotel, we headed straight to the showroom of ZILLI, France’s finest men’s brand, first thing in the afternoon.

　

　

担当者さんとランチをしつつ
互いの近況や市場の動き
などを報告。

　

こうした時間は信頼関係や
理解度を高めるためにも
とても大切です。

　

　

While having lunch with the person in charge, we update each other on our recent activities and market trends.

This kind of time is very important for building trust and understanding.

　

　

　

相変わらず美しいジリーの
ショールーム。
前回は１階だけでしたが
今回は２階にも拡張されて
おり、改めて建物をご案内
頂きました。

　

　

The ZILLI showroom is as beautiful as ever.
Last time It was only on the first floor, but this time it had been expanded to the second floor, and I was given another tour of the building.

　

　

　

　

　

　

わたくしどもメンズファッション
の世界では、この時期に来年の
春夏コレクションを発注します。

　

In the world of men’s fashion, this is the time of year when we order next year’s spring/summer collections.

　

　

こちらのブルゾンもとても
シンプルに見えて実は…
というジリーらしい１点。

　

最新コレクションですので
詳細はまだ現時点ではここで
綴ることができませんが
今回も２日間かけてじっくり
その素晴らしい世界観に
触れました。

　

　

This blouson also looks very simple but in fact…
a piece that is so typical of ZILLI.

As this is the latest collection I cannot yet go into details here, but once again I spent two days really getting to experience this wonderful worldview.

　

　

あまりにも凝縮された
２日間。旅はまだまだ
