【往復2万キロ越えの直談判】 銀座HIKO、ステファノリッチ ショールームへ行く。Over 20,000 km of Direct Negotiation— Ginza HIKO’s Journey to the Stefano Ricci Showroom in Milan.

“Feeling a bit old-fashioned myself,”
I boarded the flight to Paris last Monday.

The destination was Italy.

First, I flew to Paris, spent the night at a hotel near the airport,
and the next morning, I took an early flight to Milan.

A scenic flight with breathtaking views of the majestic Alps.

The Spring/Summer collection showcase of ZILLI, France’s premier luxury menswear brand, began at their Milan showroom, so I went there to place my orders.

While it is possible to place orders online, certain qualities—such as lightness, softness, the silhouette when worn, and the vividness of the materials—can only truly be appreciated in person.

This time as well, there were many intriguing pieces crafted.

And there was one more important meeting and business negotiation awaiting me.

The meeting took place at the five-star hotel, Principe di Savoia.

It was an appointment with Stefano Ricci, Italy’s premier luxury menswear brand.

We had been sourcing Stefano Ricci ties through a distributor, but due to circumstances beyond our control, the arrival of new collections in the Japanese market had been completely halted for over six months.

Thanks to our store, many customers have come to know about Stefano Ricci, while others who were already fans of the brand have shared their appreciation, saying:

“HIKO’s selection is truly exceptional.”

We have also received kind words such as:

“A Stefano Ricci tie is the only choice for important occasions.”

Knowing this, it was truly heartbreaking to keep our valued customers waiting for so long.

We did everything we could to resolve the situation, but our efforts proved fruitless.
Finally, I made up my mind: “If it has come to this, I have no choice but to negotiate directly with the headquarters.”
So, I reached out to Stefano Ricci’s head office in Italy.

Fortunately, it was right when the Spring/Summer collection showcase was beginning at their Milan showroom,
and the conversation naturally led to, “Then let’s meet at the showroom in Milan.”

They kindly invited me to join them for lunch, and I enjoyed a meal with the staff.
These occasions are a wonderful opportunity to exchange information and share each other’s values and visions.

The luncheon proceeded smoothly in a relaxed atmosphere,
but when I was asked, “Kyoko, which city in Italy do you like the most?”
there was a slight sense of tension in the air.

Italians are deeply proud of their hometowns.

Gathering my thoughts, I responded, “Florence is like a living museum—so beautifully artistic. And standing in front of the Duomo in Milan is truly overwhelming. These two cities are my favorites.”

Upon hearing this, he beamed with a big smile and said, “Ah yes, Florence is the best, isn’t it? It’s my hometown.”

(Phew…that was a relief…) I thought to myself.

From there, the conversation naturally flowed to my own hometown of Kumamoto, and I felt the distance between us suddenly become much closer.

By the way, all the tableware used during the lunch was official Stefano Ricci as well.
It made me realize once again that one of the brand’s strengths is its ability to express its world view not only through clothing but also through lifestyle goods.

The meeting proceeded very smoothly.
They clearly understood how much respect we have for Stefano Ricci’s philosophy and quality,
and how much heart, effort, and time we have invested in sharing the charm of their ties with a wider audience.

To conclude, I will share more details and future plans at a later date,
but I am pleased to announce that from now on, HIKO will be engaging in direct transactions with the Italian headquarters,
allowing us to bring you the latest collections.

From Haneda to Paris, then Milan,
and back again from Milan to Paris, and finally Haneda.
It was a direct negotiation spanning well over 20,000 kilometers.

Eager to share this news with you,
I am writing this blog post straight from Haneda to Ginza—not straight home, but straight to work.

As I mentioned at the beginning,
it may have been a rather old-fashioned way of doing things,
but we at HIKO will continue to move both our feet and minds
to serve as a bridge between our customers and the artisans.

Further updates on Stefano Ricci will follow soon.
