2024 1月 イタリア出張レポート My Business Trip to Italy from Pitti Uomo to Factory Visits in Milan

I usually stay at a luxury hotel on the last day of my business trips for social learning, but this time I wanted to support JAL, so I allocated that budget to a one-way business class ticket.

Before leaving the country, I read a comic by a former cabin attendant depicting the behind-the-scenes of their work. I had thought their job was merely to ensure a comfortable journey for passengers, but I came to realize that their true role is to protect the lives of the passengers.

In every profession, there are individuals who approach their duties with a sense of mission and pride. We simply pay for their services and products, and I believe there’s no hierarchy of ‘the customer is always superior.’ It’s about mutual respect.

Now, let’s get back to talking about business trips.
It’s been a long time since I last visited Italy in the winter, and it was very atmospheric.

At Pitti Uomo, the world’s largest menswear fair, I had interactions with both long-established brands and new creators.

I feeling a solemn respect despite not adhering to any religion.

The sunlight streaming through the large stained glass windows cast patterns on the pillars and walls, reminiscent of an Impressionist painting.

This time, after more than a decade, I also climbed to the rooftop. Reflecting on how this colossal structure was built by hand in an era without electricity or heavy machinery evokes a profound sense of awe.

I also have long-term interactions with the breakfast staff at the hotels where I usually stay in Florence. He is very kind and even prepares me a cappuccino when I work at my desk in my room.
